IlluminOss Medical has launched its Photodynamic Bone Stabilization System, a percutaneous, patient-specific orthopedic implant system for the stabilization and treatment of bone fractures, in Spain and Israel.

IlluminOss launched the Photodynamic Bone Stabilization System (PBSS) with Prim Orthopedia in Spain and Trimaco, Ltd in Israel. According to a company press release, the minimally invasive PBSS enables clinicians to repair bone fractures using a light-curable polymer contained within an expandable balloon catheter to achieve bone stabilization. The procedure is made through a small percutaneous surgical approach providing patients and clinicians with a fast, customized method for orthopedic bone stabilization. With a CE Marking Certificate for light to low-load bearing indications, IlluminOss’ PBSS is being used in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey and The Netherlands.

“We look forward to expanding access to this technology, which can significantly enhance how orthopedic fractures are treated in Spain and Israel,” Dirk Kuyper, president and chief executive officer of IlluminOss, stated in the release.
