Baxano Surgical Inc., a medical device company specializing in minimally invasive products for degenerative lumbar spine conditions, has introduced the novel iO-Tome disposable facetectomy instrument.

The device allows surgeons to perform rapid and safe facetectomies during certain interbody spine fusions, according a company press release.

The iO-Tome uses the Baxano Surgical iO-Flex technology to deliver a MicroBlade Shaver design intended to quickly and accurately remove the facet joint.

“After a strong limited market release over the past six months, we are very optimistic about the launch of iO-Tome, Ken Reali, President and CEO of Baxano Surgical, stated in the release. “Strategically, iO-Tome fits well with our AxiaLIF Plus, VEO and iO-Flex products allowing us to deliver a differentiated and expanded portfolio of products to MIS spine surgeons.”
