MedShape secures financing for soft tissue repair fixation device

MedShape Inc. has secured $11 million in financing to fund research on the Eclipse Soft Tissue Anchor, the company’s shape memory fixation device for soft tissue repair.

Eclipse is made of MedShape’s PEEK Altera and features a non-rotational deployment technique to allow surgeons to replicate native soft tissue anatomy and functionality. Eclipse is a two-part sheath-and-bullet design which yields a simpler insertion and greater fixation strength. It comes in a variety of sizes, ranging from 4-mm to 9-mm diameters and 10- to 20-mm lengths.

“The launch of Eclipse indicates the company’s continued dedication toward advancing orthopedics by developing innovative devices using shape memory technology,” Kurt Jacobus, CEO of MedShape, stated in a company press release.
