DePuy Synthes Spine and Brainlab launch navigation-ready instrumentation
DePuy Synthes Spine and Brainlab have announced their collaboration to launch navigation-ready spine instrumentation.
“The broader collaboration between DePuy Synthes Spine and Brainlab will enable us to provide a seamlessly integrated solution of implants, instrumentation and navigation systems that have the potential to improve patient outcomes, inform decision making during surgery, increase efficiency of spinal procedures and reduce OR time,” Max Reinhardt, Worldwide President of DePuy Synthes Spine, said in a DePuy Synthes Spine press release.
DePuy Synthes Spine and Brainlab announced that the companies plan to continue to collaborate on initiatives to bring spine navigation solutions to more surgeons and hospitals worldwide so that more patients can benefit from image-guided spine surgery.
According to the release, Brainlab Navigation Systems continuously track surgical instruments in relation to patient anatomy. This helps surgeons to avoid critical structures, to accurately find points for pedicle entry, screw insertion and screw trajectory, and to securely place spine implants.
