DePuy Synthes Spine introduces balloon for vertebral compression fractures

DePuy Synthes Spine has launched its new semi-elastic SYNFLATE Vertebral Balloon for the treatment of vertebral compression fractures.

The material stiffness has been optimized to enhance the balloon’s structural stability during inflation, enabling controlled and predictable cavity creation, according to a company press release.

“The SYNFLATE Vertebral Balloon offers a versatility not found in other vertebral body augmentation portfolios,” Max Reinhardt, Worldwide President of DePuy Synthes Spine, stated in the press release. “The access kits accommodate different physician preferences and surgical approaches, and the multiple balloon sizes enable selection based on specific patient anatomy.”

According to the release, the SYNFLATE Vertebral Balloon is available in 10 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm sizes, has nearly double the strength of standard balloons at maximum inflation volume, and is offered with mono or bilateral access kits and multiple access trocars. It can also be used with different bone fillers, including the VERTECEM II and CONFIDENCE Bone Cements.
