Symmetry Medical Inc. announced the appointment of Ajey Atre as president of its subsidiary, Symmetry Surgical Inc.

Atre will be responsible for leading the global Symmetry Surgical business and will be based at the Symmetry Surgical headquarters in Nashville, Tenn. According to a company press release, Atre was general manager of Zimmer’s Trabecular Metal Technologies Business for the past 5 years with responsibility for strategic planning, new product development, market development, global revenue expansion, surgeon education, quality and regulatory compliance, operational excellence and employee engagement. He also served as vice president of global supply chain and operations at DJO Global’s Aircast Division, where he gained experience in sales, engineering and operations positions.

“Ajey brings nearly 20 years of experience in medical devices to Symmetry Surgical, including relevant experience as a senior leader for a global business,” Thomas J. Sullivan, president and chief executive officer of Symmetry Medical, stated. “He has a wealth of general management skills that will benefit Symmetry Surgical, including the ability to drive cross-functional teams and focus on customer satisfaction.”
