ulrich medical USA Inc. recently released rectangular lateral endplates for the obeliscVertebral Body Replacement System.

According to a company press release, the titanium endplates are available in a 20-mm width and 35-mm, 45-mm, 55-mm lengths with varying degrees of lordotic options ranging from 0° to 15° each, and can be assembled to create a total of 30° of lordosis. These options enable the implant to more accurately accommodate the patient’s specific anatomical needs. Additionally, the plates are designed with large graft windows that improve fusion at the implant site and use spikes to engage the boney endplate, minimizing movement while in situ.

“The addition of lateral endplates to the obeliscproduct portfolio provides a needed lateral approach option for this market-leading device for both minimally invasive surgery and open surgical techniques,” Tom Carter, senior marketing manager of ulrich medical USA, stated in the release. “Overall, with this lateral addition, the patented, gear-driven obelisccage offers one of the broadest ranges of sizing and surgical approach options available in the United States today in expandable corpectomy cage technologies.”
