Stryker appoints new group president, realigns management

Stryker Corporation has announced the appointment of David K. Floyd to the role of group president of Orthopaedics, which includes the company’s reconstructive, trauma and extremities, joint preservation, orthobiologics and performance solutions businesses, effective Nov. 15, as well as a management realignment effective Jan. 1, 2013.
Floyd joins Stryker after 25 years in the medical technology ad orthopedics industry where he held senior level leadership roles at DePuy, a division of Johnson and Johnson, Abbott Spine, AxioMed Spine, Centerpulse Orthopaedics and was most recently as chief executive officer of OrthoWorx.
“David brings a strong medical device and orthopedic perspective to Stryker through his successful leadership roles in a broad range of enterprises, including a venture backed start-up, middle market med tech ad large cap multinationals. He is a proven leader who has demonstrated the ability to drive profitable growth through innovation and we are delighted to have David join our executive team at Stryker,” Kevin A. Lobo, president and chief executive officer of Stryker, stated in a company press release.
In the management realignment, Floyd will take on the responsibility for Stryker’s Spine division and Timothy J. Scannell will assume responsibility for Stryker’s Neurotechnology businesses, including the Neurovascular division and Craniomaxillofacial business. Scannell began his career with Stryker in 1990. He has held various leadership positions with the Endoscopy, Biotech and Spine divisions, and currently serves as group president of MedSurg and Spine.
“The realignment will best leverage our leadership talent to drive growth in our Reconstructive, MedSurg and Neurotechnology and Spine segments,” Lobo stated in the release.
