DePuy Synthes Spine recently launched the ACIS Anterior Cervical Interbody Spacer System and the Zero-P VA for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion.

“Each of these new systems addresses different surgical and clinical needs of patients with degenerative disc disease in the cervical spine, a major focus of innovation for us,” Namal Nawana, worldwide president of DePuy Synthes Spine, stated in a company press release.

According to the release, the ACIS system is a comprehensive set of spacers and instrumentation for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). The spacers are offered in three axial footprints, eight heights and three sagittal profiles to accommodate patient anatomy and surgical techniques. Made of Peek Optima radiolucent material, the spacers have a large axial lumen to maximize the area for packing autogenous bone graft and enable fusion to occur through the spacer. Intended to be used with supplemental fixation, the ACIS system has accompanying instrumentation that streamlines the ACDF procedure.

The Zero-P VA is a zero-profile stand-alone two variable angle screw construct for ACDF. It is the newest addition to the Zero-P family of implants, stand-alone devices that combine the functionality of cervical interbody spacer with the benefits of an anterior cervical plate. Available in three sagittal profiles, the implant features a two-variable-angle-screw and a one-step screw securing mechanism. It comes preassembled with a spacer made from Peek Optima and a titanium alloy interbody plate.
