Smith & Nephew launched Allevyn Life, a new wound care product. According to a company press release, the product helps improve patient well-being and quality of life, as well as reduces the economic cost of wound care.

The device features sizes that fit the contours of the body to aid in dressing retention and to hold the dressing in place. It also provides cushioning to protect against knocks and bumps, a low trauma silicone adhesive to provide minimal pain at dressing and a hyper-absorbent lock away core to prevent leakage of exudent. Allevyn Life is globally available.

“Many people are affected by wounds and these patients often have significantly impaired well-being, as well as concerns around how others will perceive them. This poses significant challenges for patients, clinicians, payers and the health care facilities that care for them,” Roger Teasdale, president of Smith & Nephew Advanced Wound Management, stated in a company press release.
