Knee system to be available in China

Maxx Medical Pvt. Ltd. announced that its Freedom Total Knee system has received approval from the State Food and Drug Administration of the People’s Republic of China and will be available throughout China shortly.

According to a company release, Freedom Knee is a complete, high-flexion primary knee replacement system specifically engineered to address the unmet need for smaller sized and differently proportioned implants to better support Asian lifestyle and physiology. The release noted knee system offers smaller and transitional sizing options to help surgeons customize fit according to patients’ size and stature, support for the deep knee bending and range of motion needs. Additionally, the knee system has the ability to preserve more bone stock the release noted.

“There was a need for new joint replacement solutions to be developed to accommodate population-specific nuances, particularly in Asia, where retro-fit western implant systems were the only options,” Ashesh Shah, chief executive officer of Maxx Medical, stated in the release.
