Zimmer Holdings, Inc. showcased its extended acetabular cup portfolio at this year’s European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) Congress in Madrid, Spain.

In a press release, the company said the recently launched Allofit IT, Continuum and Trilogy IT Systems incorporate proven fixation technologies and an integrated taper design that give surgeons the ability to choose from a range of bearing options to better match the demands of individual patients.

“Providing a more personalized fit to patients and increasing range of motion are key points of emphasis in our acetabular offerings,” stated Katarzyna Mazur, senior vice president, sales and marketing, EMEA and general manager, Zimmer GmbH. “The versatile nature of our acetabular cup portfolio incorporates multiple cup liners to provide surgeons with the cup and bearing options that best fit their individual patients’ anatomy and lifestyles.”

Zimmer said its 3-in-1 system of bearing options is applicable for a wide range of clinical indications. The Metasul Liner incorporates Zimmer’s Metasul metal-on-metal technology which provides stability and low wear and has more than 20 years of successful clinical history. Longevity highly crosslinked polyethylene, the principal technology behind the polyethylene liner, is highly resistant to wear and aging with more than 10 years of clinical experience. BIOLOX delta ceramic liner technology provides excellent biocompatibility, low wear, high hardness and good mechanical performance, the company said.
