Symmetry Medical acquires surgical instruments business of Codman & Shurtleff
Symmetry Medical Inc. has entered into an asset purchase agreement to acquire the surgical instruments business of Codman & Shurtleff Inc. According to a company press release, Codman & Shurtleff will be integrated into Symmetry’s current hospital direct business, Specialty Surgical Instrumentation, to create Symmetry Surgical which will be based in Nashville, Tenn.
Thomas J. Sullivan, president and chief executive officer of Symmetry Medical, will also serve as the president of Symmetry Surgical.

Its brands are very well respected by clinicians and hospital customers throughout the world and fit will with Symmetry’s reputation for quality and customer service,” Sullivan stated in the release.
