SpineGuard announced the election of Alan Olsen as its chairman, according to a press release. He has served as a director of the company since November 2009.

Olsen was founder and president of Danek Medical, Inc., which merged with Sofamor in the 1990s to become the Sofamor Danek Group. In 1999 Medtronic acquired Sofamor Danek.

"We are extremely pleased that Alan has accepted to chair the SpineGuard board of directors,” Pierre Jérôme, SpineGuard co-founder and CEO, stated in the release. "Over the past 6 months, since he became a director of SpineGuard, Alan has steadily and thoroughly integrated himself into the business of SpineGuard and has already made important contributions to our organizational development.”

Olsen is also CEO and chairman of the board of Atlas Spine and for 10 years has served as chairman or board member with charitable organizations focused on spinal cord injury, children's advocacy for foster children, and the arts.
