MedShape Inc. announced the full U.S. commercial release of the ExoShape Soft Tissue Fastener, a two-part PEEK Altera interference fixation device to improve soft tissue graft fixation during ACL reconstructive surgery.

After releasing the ExoShape to a limited number of sports medicine surgeons last year, MedShape made several improvements based on the feedback, according to a company press release. The enhanced design employs a non-rotational deployment technique that preserves the surgeon’s desired graft bundle orientation and tension during single tunnel-double bundle procedures.

According to the release, other improvements include a deployment gun that facilitates full expansion of the PEEK shape memory sheath without rotational movement and the use of a force loop for expansion through the combination of the ExoShape Gun and ExoShape Cartilage eliminating the need for forward force on the sheath.
