Cayenne Medical, Inc., announced in a press release it has appointed Michael T. Gillem as vice president of sales. He will be responsible for directing and managing all sales activities for the company’s AperFix soft tissue ACL reconstruction and CrossFix meniscal repair systems.

Gillem brings more than 18 years of medical device industry sales and sales management experience to his new position with Cayenne Medical, a privately-held sports medicine device company based in Scottsdale, Ariz.

“We are very pleased to welcome Mike to the Cayenne management team and believe he will be essential in helping us expand sales teams for our ACL and meniscal repair product lines,” James W. Hart, president and CEO of Cayenne Medical stated in the release. “He has a proven, results-driven track record and I am confident his leadership will help shape the growth of our company.”

Prior to joining Cayenne Medical, Gillem, a Perdue University graduate, was vice president of sales at Stereotaxis where his leadership helped deliver a 27% increase of revenue in 2009 compared to 2008. Gillem has also held several senior level positions where he helped introduce technology to the marketplace and drive clinical adoption. As area director of Foxhollow Technologies, Gillem helped grow that company to over 200 sales professionals, which resulted in significant revenue growth.
