Boa Technology has announced in a press release the launch of a Medical Business Unit, which the company says will support the growing demand seen in the category explored by its Boa Closure System, as well as service current partners.

Current Boa Product Manager Jimmy Capra has been promoted to director of the new Medical Business Unit.

“As we have become more visible in the medical field, we have received interest from a growing number of potential orthopedic and prosthesis device partners,” Capra stated in a company release. “They see the inherent added value of having the Boa Closure System on their products and feel confident that their consumers will too.”

Created by Gary Hammerslag in 1998 for the snowboard boot industry, the Boa Closure System reportedly provides quick on and off customized comfort with smooth, even closure and no pressure points. Once locked in, Boa claims its reels and laces remain in place.
