Ascension Orthopedics introduces total arthroplasty component to great toe implant system
Ascension Orthopedics, Inc., announced the expansion of the MOVEMENT Great Toe Implant System to include a total arthroplasty component. This complete great toe arthroplasty system now allows surgeons the intraoperative choice to perform hemi-resurfacing for either side of the joint or total joint replacement.
Available in four sizes, the MOVEMENT Great Toe System provides cannulated instrumentation for ease of use and utilizes a conical reaming approach for minimal bone resection and retention of plantar soft tissue attachments. This truly modular system provides surgeons a complete solution for great toe arthroplasty in one instrument set.
The anatomical shape of the MOVEMENT Great Toe implants and the cannulated instrumentation allow for better remodeling of the joint surfaces compared to other commercially available implants and offer a complete approach to first metatarsophalangeal joint arthroplasty, William Montross, DPM, of Front Range Orthopedics in Colorado Springs, Colo., stated in a company press release.
The MOVEMENT Great Toe System reflects Ascensions dedication to expanding its foot and ankle product offering which includes: the Total Foot System, a procedure-specific, locking plate system for forefoot, midfoot and hindfoot surgery; the CAPTURE Screw System, a comprehensive cannulated fixation solution for extremity surgeons; and the PyroSphere TMT, the first PyroCarbon implant available for the foot.
The expansion of the MOVEMENT Great Toe System to include a total arthroplasty device demonstrates the companys leadership role in extremity orthopedics and highlights our commitment to providing innovative solutions for the specific challenges faced by foot and ankle surgeons, Ascension Orthopedics President and CEO, Guy Mayer, stated in the release.
