Hanger Orthopedic Group has announced that Vinit K. Asar will be the company’s new president and chief operating officer.

Asar will be managing Hanger’s SPS distribution unit and Linkia network unit as additional responsibilities to his new positions at the company, according to the release.

“Vinit has brought a new level of enterprise strategic thinking to Hanger,” Thomas F. Kirk, chief executive officer of Hanger, stated in a press release. “His invaluable contribitions have led to calculated growth, disciplined operational diversification, and advancement of our vision.”

Asar was formerly with Johnson & Johnson for 20 years in their medical device sector before he was eventually promoted to executive vice president and chief growth officer for the company in December 2008.
