Orthopaedics Today Europe named the official newspaper of EFORT
SLACK Incorporated, publisher of Orthopaedics Today Europe, recently announced its newly formed partnership with the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT).
The affiliation emerged from the organizations’ mutual interest in advancing the education of orthopaedic surgeons, making Orthopaedics Today Europe the official newspaper of the organization.
EFORT is the umbrella organization linking Europe’s national orthopaedic associations. The Federation was founded in Marentino, Italy, in 1991, and today has 38 national member societies from 36 member countries, as well as four associate scientific members.

Orthopaedics Today Europe, formerly known as Orthopaedics Today International, is a bimonthly newspaper published by SLACK Incorporated that reaches orthopaedic surgeons throughout Europe.
Per Kjaersgaard-Andersen, MD, president of the Danish Orthopaedic Society and chief medical editor of Orthopaedics Today Europe, said both organizations are very optimistic about the new arrangement.
“EFORT and Orthopaedics Today Europe have long shared an admiration for each other, and Orthopaedics Today Europe has played an active role reporting from past EFORT congresses,” Kjaersgaard-Andersen said. He will serve as the local program chair for the 2011 EFORT congress in Copenhagen.
In this new arrangement, Orthopaedics Today Europe will publish news and announcements from the organization in each issue. Also, Orthopaedics Today Europe will publish a newspaper each day during the upcoming EFORT Congress in Vienna, recapping some of the previous day’s most important news and providing a preview of upcoming presentations and special events.
“This is a perfect match,” said Robert D. D’Ambrosia, MD, chief medical editor of Orthopedics and former co-editor of Orthopaedics Today International. “The two organizations complement each other very well, and they will be able to help each other serve the European orthopaedic community at large even better now.”
John C. Carter, chief operating officer of SLACK Incorporated, added, “EFORT is a strong, highly regarded organization that is focused on the advancement of the field through the exchange of scientific facts, experiences and the exploration of orthopaedic trends. SLACK Incorporated shares this commitment to orthopaedic education, and our partnership with EFORT will benefit our readers tremendously.”
