Filtering blue light may help regulate melatonin
CHICAGO – Blue light-filtering spectacle lenses were found to help regulate melatonin levels and may be used in certain populations to lessen the effects of light exposure at night, researchers reported here at the American Academy of Optometry meeting.

NEPTUNE, N.J. – SUNY student Kristen Stuart shared her research on pupillary light response here at the New Jersey Academy of Optometry fall dinner meeting. She said that the pupil recovery time when exposed to light was significantly longer in myopes when compared to emmetropes.
OCT angiography can evaluate optic nerve in MS
The combination of OCT and OCT angiography showed that multiple sclerosis is associated with retinal structural loss and decreased optic nerve head perfusion in eyes with and without a history of optic neuritis.

NEPTUNE, N.J. – Here at the New Jersey Academy of Optometry fall dinner meeting, Mark Hakim, OD, shared a case report of a patient who was unable to comprehend written words and sentences as a result of a stroke. With the use of the KNFB Reader App from the National Federation of the Blind, the patient is now able to read his mail by taking a picture of it, Hakim said.
