LAS VEGAS – Shamir announced the release of Shamir Computer and Shamir WorkSpace at a press conference here at Vision Expo West. The lenses are “designed to provide patients with the perfect visual solution for their occupational environment and daily tasks,” according to a company press release.
Study: Manipulating ortho-K lenses to customize refraction may be difficult
A recently published study determined that changing orthokeratology lens parameters caused significant changes in peripheral refraction, corneal topography and corneal surface aberrations, and as such, attempting to customize refraction and topography through manipulation of the lens is a difficult task.
Study: Myopia control via multifocal contacts better at 2 years of wear vs. 1 year
A recently published 2-year study matched for age and gender to a previously conducted 1-year study showed a comparatively significant reduction in the progression of myopia with soft multifocal contact lenses than the 1-year study, as well as a significant reduction in axial elongation.
J&J calls for research proposals on UV and the eye
Topic areas can include photoaging (cataractogenesis, presbyopia and corneal, retinal and conjunctival/limbal changes); epidemiology of UV-induced ocular disease; and assessing the protective effect of UV-blocking contact lenses on human ocular tissues.
Study shows ortho-K controls axial elongation
Orthokeratology was found to control axial elongation in certain older children with myopia when compared to single vision spectacles, according to a study recently published in Optometry & Vision Science.
