Contact Lenses/Eye Wear News
Prophylactic drops have no effect on inflammatory events in continuous wear
Researchers found that twice-daily instillation of antibiotic drops has no significant effect on the incidence of inflammation in patients wearing contact lenses overnight; however, corneal infiltrative events were associated with higher levels of lens contamination. Ozkan and colleagues reported in Optometry and Vision Science that they evaluated 241 patients who wore lotrafilcon A silicone hydrogel lenses continuously for 30 days.
Coefficient of friction values may aid contact lens development
Researchers have measured the coefficient of friction value on human corneal tissue, providing a method of evaluating the ability of a contact lens to mimic the natural ocular environment, according to a press release from Vistakon Division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care.
