The Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry, in collaboration with the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, has announced 2024 pass rate data for each optometric institution in the U.S., according to a press release.
“These results are from calculations using the scores of optometry candidates who have both graduated during the 2023-2024 academic year and attempted all three parts of the exam at least once,” Jill Bryant, OD, MPH, the board’s executive director, said in the release.
According to the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) website, Arizona College of Optometry Midwestern University had the highest pass rate at 98.39%, followed by Southern College of Optometry (97.76%), The Ohio State University College of Optometry (97.01%), Indiana University School of Optometry (96.25%) and Northeastern State University-Oklahoma College of Optometry (96.15%).
The overall pass rate in the U.S. was 85.88%, representing 1,700 candidates.
“The pass rates from the schools and colleges of optometry can provide a comprehensive view of school performance as well as challenges,” ASCO President Fraser Horn, OD, said in the release. “We remain committed to offering each optometry student a vigorous curriculum as well as tailored support to best prepare them to enter this very challenging and rewarding career.”
