INDIANAPOLIS — Individuals with mild to moderate presbyopia who were treated with CSF-1 were able to achieve and maintain functional vision for at least 5 hours after two doses, according to a presenter at Academy 2024.

“While we talk about getting patients to 20/20, functional vision — 20/40 — is 7-point font,” Cecelia Koetting, OD, FAAO, DipABO, a clinical instructor at University of Colorado School of Medicine, said in this Healio video. “20/40 is actually really good.”

According to Koetting, about 70% of participants were able to achieve 20/40 or better as early as day 1 after applying one drop of investigational CSF-1 (0.4% pilocarpine, Orasis Pharmaceuticals) two times per day, with effects lasting up to 5 hours after the second dose.

In addition, when participants applied 0.4% pilocarpine in only one eye, the binocular summation of both eyes improved.
