The Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association has announced that Barbara Barclay will serve as its new executive director starting Oct. 1.
According to a NORA press release, Barclay has more than 30 years of leadership experience, including two decades in health care technology. She previously served as president of RightEye and as North American general manager for Tobii, both eye-tracking technology companies.
“Barbara brings a deep understanding of our community, including experience introducing eye-tracking technologies to help improve assessments of conditions such as brain injuries, reading delays and Parkinson’s disease,” Charles Shidlofsky, OD, FOVDR, FNAP, NORA president, said in the release. “Her expertise will be a tremendous asset as NORA continues its mission to raise awareness of neuro-optometric rehabilitation services and promote interdisciplinary approaches across health care teams.”
Barclay succeeds Gary Esterow, who served the association for 6 years and retires Sept. 30.
“I am thrilled to join NORA and work alongside the board of directors and members to further the education of optometrists and others in neuro-optometric care,” Barclay said in the release. “Together, we’ll continue to provide individuals and caregivers with the resources and tools they need to achieve optimal visual rehabilitation.”
