NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Patients with keratoconus may need a variety of contact lenses after surgery, making it critical for clinicians to have multiple options in their toolbox, according to a speaker at Optometry’s Meeting.

“We’re excited to bring out some interesting cases — some more common than others — which detail how we solve patients’ keratoconus issues both before, during and after surgery using contact lenses,” Susan J. Gromacki, OD, MS, FAAO, FSLS, director of contact lens service at First Sight Vision Care in Fulton, Maryland, said in this Healio video.

In a presentation with Clark Chang, OD, MSA, Gromacki will discuss corneal collagen crosslinking, with a focus on how to fit a contact lens afterward.

“In order to fully satisfy our patients who have keratoconus, you need more than just scleral lenses,” Gromacki said. “You need corneal gas permeables, hybrids, soft lenses for keratoconus. You name it, we will talk about it.”
