NEW ORLEANS — Supporting World Sight Day on Oct. 12 is just one way Optometry Giving Sight fights global blindness due to refractive error, Lois Schoenbrun, FAAO, said at Academy ’23.
Schoenbrun, executive director of Optometry Giving Sight, told Healio that the group raises funds to support dozens of optometry-based programs around the world.
“We build optometry schools, vision care centers,” she said. “We train optometrists to build sustainable, scalable solutions to the problem of uncorrected refractive error.”
