NEW ORLEANS — Alcon introduced its recently launched Total30 Multifocal contact lens, a reusable, monthly lens for patients with presbyopia that features the company’s water gradient technology, at Academy ’23.

“This is a great innovation that builds on the trusted family of our Total contact lens portfolio,” Kristen Brotherson, vice president of U.S. vision care sales at Alcon, told Healio.

The new lenses, which join Total30 Sphere and Total30 for Astigmatism, feature Alcon’s Precision Profile design, which achieves 96% fit success and allows wearers to experience clear vision at all distances, the company said in a press release.

“When we talk about permanent water surface technology, the intent is to allow for that gentle cushion of moisture to be the only thing coming in contact with your eye, which means patients who are suffering from digital device dryness, because they are blinking less frequently, are using a contact lens that was designed to address that problem,” Brotherson said at an Alcon-sponsored media event.
