LAS VEGAS — Oculus Inc. announced at Vision Expo West that it has partnered with Luvo for the U.S. launch of the Lucent for intense pulsed light therapy and the Darwin, which offers IPL with radiofrequency.
The Lucent is FDA-indicated for facial telangiectasia, and the Darwin is indicated for improving circulation, TJ Flynn, Oculus director of business development, told Healio.
The Thermal Radio Frequency aspect of the Darwin allows doctors to treat any skin type, he said.
The Darwin is sold with two radiofrequency handpieces, “but doctors can order additional for more aesthetic procedures like hair removal,” he said. The rubbing tips can be used with up to 10 patients, and each patient must wear a new grounding pad.
Flynn also said that Oculus has partnered with OD Immersion, co-founded by Shane Swatts, OD, and Chantel Garcia, OD, to offer customers a 6-month consulting package. He noted that optometrists will receive training on the technology from another optometrist.
