Fortifeye Vitamins has released its Next Gen Zinc-Free Macular Defense Formula, a new supplement to target age-related macular degeneration in patients sensitive to zinc.

According to a company press release, the supplement contains a variety of essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, including lutein and zeaxanthin, which are critical in replenishing macular pigment density. The formula does not contain vitamin A or beta carotene to ensure better absorption of nutrients.

“We are thrilled to introduce this groundbreaking formula that addresses the needs of individuals with macular degeneration,” Michael P. Lange, OD, CNS, founder of Fortifeye Vitamins and the Lange Eye Institute, said in the release. “Fortifeye is committed to providing cutting-edge solutions for maintaining and preserving eye health, and this zinc-free formula represents a significant step forward in our mission.”

The supplement has been available for the past 2 years at select eye care centers and is now available to the public via the Fortifeye website and through authorized retailers, the release stated.
