Visionary Optics launches new scleral lens with customized design, improved fit

Visionary Optics has launched Europa Tangent, a new scleral lens that provides customizable design and a three-zone step-system for optimal fitting, the company announced in a company press release.
“The lens design excels in both fit and comfort,” Randy Charrier, OD, FAAO, of Family Vision Solutions in Texas, said in the release. “This design is more predictable with settling and allows me to come to a final fit more quickly. By lowering our remake percentage, improving compression and impingement issues, and improving patient comfort, the Europa Tangent has become the number one lens used in my practice.”
According to the release, the lens design was based on clinical experience and analysis of data from more than 10,000 fittings. It includes one landing zone curve, which follows the natural contour of the scleral surface and provides a smoother, softer transition to the landing zone.
The company also said the new lens allows eye care providers to adjust parameters in the central, limbal and landing zones without affecting other fit factors.
“Our new Europa Tangent was designed with new and seasoned fitters in mind,” Donald Sanders, MD, PhD, president and CEO of Visionary Optics, said in the release. “This simplified design offers a streamlined fitting method, while still ensuring that any advanced customization options remain available.”
