The Meivertor, a new device designed to evert the upper eyelid for improved imaging of meibomian glands, was introduced at Academy 2022 in San Diego.

According to a company press release, the device, available from Mazado Inc., is made of stainless steel with semi-cylindrical grips, allowing single-hand eyelid eversion for ease of use with a meibographer. Single-use, disposable silicone tips with a tongue-and-groove feature allow the user to grip across the patient’s eyelashes securely and evenly.

“Having images of the meibomian glands is important to providing a complete assessment of meibomian gland health for the diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of [meibomian gland disease],” the company stated in the release.

The Meivertor was developed and brought to market by MaryAnn Klassen and Zach Vanderwel.
