VIDEO: Anti-VEGF therapy a ‘game-changer’ in wet AMD, diabetic retinopathy
In a video interview with Healio, Anthony DeWilde OD, FAAO, director of the tele-eye imaging program at VA Kansas City Health Care, discusses his presentation at Academy on anti-VEGF therapy for various ocular conditions.
“As optometrists, we play an integral role in finding when the patient needs to have this treatment and when they don’t,” DeWilde said.
DeWilde focused his presentation on anti-VEGF for wet age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion.
“Anti-VEGF intravitreal injections are kind of a game-changer when it comes to these conditions,” he said. “For me, it’s been very interesting to see the growth of this modality as standard of care and to see the changes that have happened.”
