With a total contribution of $3.8 million, CooperVision was acknowledged as Optometry Giving Sight’s largest donor in the organization’s history, the release stated.

Beacon of Light awards also were given to 30 corporations and 12 individuals, including Juan Carlos Aragon, OD; Bobby Christensen, OD, FAAO, and his wife, Jayn; Mario Gutierrez, OD; Allan Jones, OD; Jeffrey Krohn, OD; Jill Geering Matheson, OD; John McCall Jr., OD; Moes Nassar, OD; Greg Pearl, OD; Anthony Thomas; and Robert Weiss.
In total, awardees donated more than $13 million to fund OGS’s mission, which focuses on providing sustainable eye care solutions to underserved communities worldwide, the release stated.
“At Optometry Giving Sight, our generous donors allow us to continue the necessary work of providing sight — and hope — to thousands of people around the world,” Lois Schoenbrun, CAE, FAAO, executive director of OGS in North America, said in the release. “Some of them, including those honored tonight, have stood with us from the beginning, consistently and loyally giving to OGS so that we can continue our mission to end preventable blindness.”
