DENVER – Twenty-nine percent of global visual impairment due to irreversible causes is attributable to myopia, Johnson & Johnson Vision’s Noel A. Brennan, MScOptom, PhD, FAAO, said here at ARVO.

Two J&J studies addressed the implications of myopia.

The second study showed that if myopia onset in an 8- or 9-year-old child is delayed by a year, “that may save them 0.75 D to 1.00 D in ultimate refraction,” Brennan said.
