Results from the Vision Council’s 2021 Eyecare Provider Insights Survey show high capture rates despite low numbers of eye exams, with 55% of providers reporting capture rates being normal or better than typical January results.

The capture rate, “is an encouraging indicator especially if patient volume increases as more patients are vaccinated and reschedule exams they may have postponed or canceled in previous months,” Vision Council director of data and analytics, Alysse Henkel, said in a press release from the group.

“Practices likely will need to continue to adapt their services and optimize their business operations,” Henkel said.

While 60% of respondents reported decreased revenue, and 30% reported a reduction in staff, 45% said they believe business will improve in 3 to 6 months, according to the survey.

In addition, 17% said their telehealth use increased from the previous month.
