Volk Optical launches portable mydriatic retinal camera
Volk Optical announced the availability of VistaView, the company’s new portable mydriatic fundus camera that has a 55° field of view, a voice capture option and an onboard app.
“The VistaView integrates the power of Volk optics with the simplicity and affordability of smartphone technology, allowing everyone access and ownership of a quality portable, mydriatic retinal camera, which directly serves our purpose of eradicating preventable blindness through accessible imaging of the eye,” Jyoti Gupta, PhD, Volk president, said in a press release.
The company said in the release that eye care professionals (ECPs) can adjust the device’s lens focus manually or with autofocus as well as the level of illumination for patients who are photophobic. The VistaView can also capture a diverse array of retinal pigments and generates DICOM images, according to the release.
After capturing the image, ECPs can use the onboard app to review, enhance and analyze images.
Volk also reported that the device generates password-protected reports. ECPs can use the VistaView device to share or export reports and images for billing, consultation or referral.
