ORLANDO, Fla. – “Very low” rates of adverse events were found in an evaluation of 800 patient years of soft contact lens wear among children, according to a poster presented here at the American Academy of Optometry meeting.
Author Noel A. Brennan, MScOptom, PhD, FAAO, said six different studies showed, “no cases of microbial keratitis, very low rates of adverse events, no serious or significant adverse events and a rate of corneal infiltrative events of only 0.3 per 100 patient years of wear, and those were nonserious as well... It’s encouraging that we’re seeing such low rates of adverse events.”
