Bausch + Lomb announced the U.S. launch of Ocuvite Eye Performance, an ocular supplement containing high levels of seven nutrients to strengthen the macula.

The addition to the company’s eye vitamin portfolio aims to help protect the eye from the stress of sunlight and the blue light emitted from digital devices, Bausch + Lomb said in a press release.

Ocuvite Eye Performance contains lutein and zeaxanthin, carotenoids naturally found in the eye; omega-3s to support healthy tears and the retina; zinc to help regulate immune function; the antioxidant vitamins C and E to target eye health; and the antioxidant vitamin D to help prevent inflammation, the company said in the release.

“From increased UV exposure from sunlight and blue light absorbed during long hours spent in front of digital devices, the demands we place on our eyes on a daily basis are rapidly evolving, and our eyes have not been able to keep up on their own,” Chris Marschall, Bausch + Lomb vice president and general manager of U.S. consumer health care, said in the release.

This supplement was designed to “support the eyes’ natural protective filter, providing the added strength they need to take on today’s modern world,” he added.

Ocuvite Eye Performance vitamins are available at major retailers nationwide.
