NEW YORK – Now that Avedro’s corneal cross-linking system is FDA-approved, the procedure provides potential for expanded uses, said Scott Hauswirth, OD, who presented a lecture on the topic here at Vision Expo East.
Much work is being done in the area of cross-linking as an anti-infective agent in infectious keratitis, he said. In addition, combination therapies are being considered with topography-guided PRK, conductive keratoplasty and Intacs (SightLife Surgical).
