NEPTUNE, N.J. – Alexandra Kaminek, OD, ocular disease resident at Atlantic Eye Physicians, shared a case here at the New Jersey Academy of Optometry CE meeting of an elderly man referred to the clinic for presumed ligneous conjunctivitis nonresponsive to treatment for about a year.

Results of a biopsy showed the patient was positive for MALT (mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue) lymphoma, which was treated by an oncologist with radiation therapy. The eye clinic is monitoring the patient for potential ocular side effects of the treatment, such as radiation retinopathy or cataracts.
