SECO announced that it will showcase the latest technological innovations in eye and health care as well as up-and-coming eye wear products at its annual meeting in New Orleans in February.

The conference will educate eye care professionals on what is trending in the industry and help train them for advances in the coming year.

Those advances include:

--Virtual health care through the use of technology;

--Increased sales of progressive-addition lenses and anti-fatigue/digital device lenses;

--Growth in the daily disposable contact lens segment;

--Increased demand for corneal health technology, such as 3D printed corneas;

--More interest in blue light-filtering sun wear products;

--Hardship on revenues caused by poor compliance with annual eye exams;

--Greater investment in online and in-person customer service to compete with e-commerce websites;

--Increased number of optometrists and no change in the number of ophthalmologists; and

--Improvements in patient care through the use of expanded prescribing privileges, use of injectables, and advancements in laser treatments and minor surgeries.

SECO will be held Feb. 20-24, 2019, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
