NEPTUNE, N.J. – While optometrists often come across posterior segment disease such as diabetic retinopathy and hypertensive retinopathy that would provide a clue to a patient’s systemic health, anterior segment conditions may do the same, Bisant Labib, OD, said here at the New Jersey Academy of Optometry CE meeting.

Labib, an assistant professor at Salus University, shared cases where anterior segment disease was linked to systemic health and advised when contact with primary care physicians or other specialists would be warranted.
