SAN ANTONIO – No major analysis has been conducted to evaluate the long-term efficacy of studies on myopia control interventions, Noel A. Brennan, MScOptom, PhD, FAAO, said here at the American Academy of Optometry meeting.

He is presenting a poster here that concludes that the treatment effect found in various studies, “does not necessarily apply across the progression range, and also it doesn’t apply over time,” he said. “We found that there’s a ceiling to what current interventions might achieve, and that’s only about 1 D.”

Disclosure: Brennan is a clinical research fellow and emerging technologies platform lead for myopia control for Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc.
