CooperVision is accepting applications through Nov. 21 for its Best Practices program, which seeks to celebrate the nation’s best optometric practices based on their innovation, industry leadership and patient experience.

Thirty practices spanning the U.S. have been honored since the program’s launch 3 years ago, according to a CooperVision press release.

Shauna Thornhill, OD, Amarillo Vision Specialists, was one such honoree.

“Being exposed to this amazing group has helped me grow and discover new ways to serve my patients, my profession and community,” Thornhill said in the release.

The panel of judges will include former Best Practice honorees, CooperVision leaders and industry experts, and their decision will be announced early in 2019.

Michele Andrews, OD, senior director of professional and academic affairs, North America, CooperVision, told Primary Care Optometry News here at Vision Expo West that while the company still plans on sharing the practices’ stories with the vision care community, “we want to make it a bit more interactive. We’re thinking webinars, where doctors can call in and share experiences or ask questions. It will be more real-time.”

Andrews said in the release that the partnership with the honorees has shown there are differences in approaches to patient care, leadership and practice management, “yet there continue to be common ties that bind all of us together.”
