EyePromise announced that macular pigment optical density measurement by heterochromatic flicker photometry has earned a Category III CPT code from the American Medical Association.

This procedure is not reimbursable, but Category III CPT codes are used for data collection and tracking for products or services to help researchers substantiate widespread usage and efficacy, according to an EyePromise press release.

The EyePromise portfolio includes the macular pigment optical density (MPOD) measurement instrument, the QuantifEye MPS II, to help gauge eye health, along with comprehensive support partnerships with online and in-practice support.
