‘Best Practice’ ODs to develop industry solutions at AOA meeting

CooperVision’s Best Practices honorees will leverage their collective experiences to formulate recommendations for the ophthalmic industry at Optometry’s Meeting next week.
On June 21, David Ricketts, a Harvard University innovation fellow, will facilitate the discussions in the exhibit hall at the American Optometric Association and American Optometric Student Association annual meeting involving practitioners chosen as forward thinkers in CooperVision’s Best Practices competition, according to a press release from the company.
Current and past honorees will participate in a think tank to address the challenges facing today’s eye care practices amidst unprecedented change in the industry, according to the release. They will develop novel, high-value solutions for the industry, working together to conduct research, collect ideas and formulate recommendations that will be unveiled at the Global Contact Lens Forum at Vision Expo West in Las Vegas.
“With optometry’s evolution, eye care professionals must adapt for their practices to not only survive, but thrive,” Michele Andrews, OD, senior director of professional and academic affairs, North America, CooperVision, said in the release. “Our Best Practices honorees have found ways to do this in their own communities, but now we are challenging them to take their vision a few steps further — to push the boundaries of what’s possible and develop a roadmap for thousands of their peers to adopt.”
Best Practices honorees will gather in the exhibit hall on June 21, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and attendees are invited to provide their own insights.
“Key to making transformative solutions will be the direct engagement and participation of attendees in the exhibit hall to help uncover and test the new insights developed in the lab,” Ricketts said in the release.
