Primary Care Optometry News has garnered a bronze award for its PCON Reports print column in the annual competition of the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors.
ASHPE recognizes outstanding editorial and design excellence and achievement in health care publications. The annual competition provides an opportunity for editors to measure their efforts and publications against the best the health care sector has to offer.
The Best Regular Department category award recognized three 2017 PCON Reports articles written by Abigail Sutton and edited by Nancy Hemphill, ELS, FAAO:
- Clinicians anticipate treating presbyopia with eye drops from August;
- DEWS report is comprehensive, but questions remain, experts say from September; and
- Blood pressure, A1C testing can help patients from ‘falling through the cracks’ from October.
“Since its inception, PCON has strived to provide our readers with contemporary editorial content in a factual and balanced manner,” Michael D. DePaolis, OD, FAAO, PCON Editor, said about the award. “While the times and topics change, PCON's talented journalists continue to deliver on this commitment. Congratulations to Nancy, Abigail and the entire eye care team for the honor of receiving an ASHPE award.”
Healio.com and SLACK Inc. received additional awards in other medical specialties: Endocrine Today, Healio Gastroenterology, HemOnc Today, Infectious Disease News and Orthopedics Today.
“Our staff’s ongoing efforts have earned these exceptional honors, and I am ecstatic that their hard work is recognized,” Joan-Marie Stiglich, Healio chief content editor, said. “Earning these awards is a demonstration of our dedication to provide physicians with timely, relevant news and information.”
