For Eyes continues to expand its business model with an expert approach to patient care, Jose R. Costa, CEO North America of parent company GrandVision NV, said in a media teleconference on Tuesday.
For Eyes was founded in 2002 and has grown to 111 locations in the U.S., with plans to open 25 locations by the end of the year.
The new stores are planned for states where For Eyes currently has a presence: the Midwest region, the Northeast, Puerto Rico and California.
GrandVision NV, which acquired For Eyes in 2015, is publicly traded in the Netherlands, with nearly 7,000 locations in 45 countries.
“We are very excited to grow aggressively in the U.S. and Canada, with full support from our global board and CEO,” Costa said in the teleconference.
For Eyes is primarily located in the Midwest and on the East Coast, with a strong presence in California and five stores in Puerto Rico, according to Costa. The business model is primarily in strip malls and other high traffic areas, which he said will continue to be a part of the company’s growth plan.
“We are in the process of rethinking how we go to market,” Costa said.
By July, all stores will have Optikam, an iPad app that assists eye care professionals in the dispensing process, to facilitate state-of-the-art lenses.
“There are a lot of really good things coming to For Eyes,” Costa added.
Topcon has upgraded all For Eyes equipment, and the company will continue to offer exclusive brands from GrandVision that feature high-quality European-made lenses.
Costa announced a new VP of professional services, Magda Nogueras, OD.
“She is a bilingual leader with a great ability to connect with patients and doctors, and I’m looking forward to working with her,” he said.
Costa also discussed a discount program for small businesses, Perks For Eyes. The program allows small business owners to offer discounts on eye exams, products and services for their employees, where previously they were unable to offer vision coverage.
“Especially in South Florida, this is gaining a lot of traction,” he said. – by Abigail Sutton
